With the election of the first Black President of the
United States, 2009 has already carved out a spot in
North American history books. In the movie The
American President, the White House Chief of Staff
says to the President that if television had been the
medium (instead of radio) during Franklin D
Roosevelt's campaign for President, "the American
people would never have elected a man in a
wheelchair". His message was that they were not
ready for diversity. Clearly, with Barack Obama's
election, the American people were ready for diversity
in the White House. The question is, are companies
ready for diversity?
